Model M3 Waveguide

In order to achieve an imperceptible transition to the midrange driver and thus deliver exceptional spatial imaging, an FEA-optimized funnel-shaped sound guide(waveguide) was seamlessly milled into the baffle in front of the tweeter.

This made it possible to model a constant horizontal dispersion of 140°. Compared to the usual 90°, this increases the size of the evenly filled room(sweet spot) in which a precise spatial image is created. In the vertical plane, the radiation is shaped asymmetrically 60° upwards and 40° less strongly downwards in order to reduce ground reflections and thus create better spatial localization.

The unique geometry of this waveguide gives Model M3 remarkable detail in the high frequency range, excellent imaging and a natural balance in almost any listening position and in a variety of acoustic environments.

Exceptional components

The latest generation of tweeters and transducers

The ring diaphragm compression driver -
The high-frequency solution for critical applications

Extended bandwidth | Smooth and linear frequency response | High electrical and mechanical load capacity | Very low distortion | Reduced compression | High dynamic reserves | Ideal connection to sound guides (waveguide)

In order to achieve the goal of the highest possible level stability, lowest distortion and widest bandwidth, the path led from the usual dome tweeters to a compression driver. Only this design can reproduce the highest level peaks of up to 125 dB completely effortlessly with the lowest distortion.

In contrast to dome diaphragms, which produce uncontrolled break-up modes with audible sound coloration, the advanced ring diaphragm technology offers considerable advantages in terms of precision. Despite the enormous diaphragm surface area, the 56 mm ring diaphragm has very small diaphragm legs (12 mm) so that the diaphragm vibrates in phase and no partial vibrations occur in the high frequency range.

Thanks to this unique and patented design, our compression driver sounds extremely transparent and reproduces even the most complex music signals crystal clear and never tiring, even after long periods of listening.

Compared to traditional dome tweeters (right), the ring diaphragm compression driver (left) has a dramatically higher efficiency and therefore requires only 1/10 of the amplifier power for the same sound level.

Outstanding clarity and resolution for voices

Smooth and linear frequency response | Very low distortion | Resonance-free and fast decay behavior | High electrical and mechanical load capacity | High efficiency

The acoustically most critical area is the midrange and speech range, because this is where our hearing is most sensitive. This is where multi-way systems such as Model M3 benefit from a dedicated mid-range driver, which is freed from reproducing bass signals. This significantly increases the audibility of complex music passages and high levels in particular.

A 210 mm high-efficiency cone driver (94 dB @1 W / 1 m) continues the high dynamic level of the tweeter. The feather-light, fibre-reinforced paper cone is optimized for the mid-range thanks to its concave shape and is held in place by a filigree, low-loss textile surround. The complete absence of resonance makes vocals sound impressively realistic and natural.

A copper cap demodulates the magnet system and thus reduces inductivity and drive-related distortions. This ensures uncolored reproduction at all times.

Bass dynamics to the power of two - bass that will move you

Extended low bass range | High electrical and mechanical load capacity | Very low distortion | Flexible control

The newly developed 260 mm (10") subwoofer has an air-dried and fiber-reinforced paper cone. The basic mechanical construction is based on a solid die-cast aluminium basket, whose five Y-double spokes are optimized for maximum stability and freedom from resonance.

The long excursion design enables a linear excursion (xmax) of +/- 13.5 mm. The FEA-optimized and 7-fold ventilated magnet system drives a large 75 mm (3″) voice coil wound on a non-conductive glass fibre carrier. The motor parts are coated with a black, heat-emissive coating for better cooling. This means that each of the drivers can handle up to 1000 W. The low-impedance design allows this amplifier power to be used optimally and thus further increase the maximum level.

Both subwoofers are mounted in separate bass reflex chambers at the front and rear in opposite directions in order to make maximum use of the available cabinet volume. The tube ends are each designed to optimize the flow, so that even at full volume there is no background noise or resonance in the transmission range. The result is a room-filling and precise bass foundation .

Form follows function

Every aspect of the enclosure design was optimized for acoustic quality. This resulted in enclosure proportions with a large width and shallow depth. With depth of only 199 mm the enclosure is pleasantly flat and can therefore be positioned very close to a wall. Thanks to this small footprint, Model M3 can be perfectly integrated into any room situation without dominating it.

Fantastic colors and surfaces

In addition to the timeless paint finishes in graphite black (RAL 9011) and pure white (RAL 9010) as standard, Model M3 can also be equipped in the special colors steel blue (RAL 5011) and anthracite grey (RAL 7016), as well as luxurious automotive metallic paint finishes azure silver blue and night violet.

However, we can also fulfill very individual wishes on request and create a unique piece according to your ideas.

Model M3 Electronics

All of a piece - The entire electronics are fully integrated into the speaker and hermetically sealed from all external influences. The large aluminum rear panel holds all connections and a touch display and serves as a passive heat sink. Various settings can be accessed via USB and the system software, and room calibration can also be carried out in this way.

Leading amplifier technology

Highly efficient Class-D amplifier modules from PASCAL with patented UMAC™ technology form the basis. Features such as an extremely flat frequency response, complete independence from the load impedance and practically frequency-independent distortion behavior mark the current state of amplifier technology.

Pascal Class-D amplifier module

The division into separate electronics compartments for each speaker results in a genuine double mono design, with all four channels of a speaker being supplied by one power supply unit. This prevents mutual interference (crosstalk) even under maximum load. The output power can be configured with 2x 1,000 watts (Model M3) and optionally 2x 1,500 watts (Model M3 S). All components are only installed in 105° C temperature-stable variants to ensure high reliability and a long service life.

Full digital signal processing

The digital signal processing is performed using a powerful 4th generation SHARC DSP with 32-bit floating point accuracy. The digital crossover uses steep filters to minimize the overlap areas of the drivers and to create even cleaner transitions. A linear-phase equalization using FIR filters corrects the time domain for a smooth and natural playback.

The AD/DA conversion has a dynamic range of 112 dB(A) and is acoustically transparent. Predictive limiters protect all components against overload at all times and thus offer absolute operational reliability.
